Joy with Wings: A Daughter's Tale
Written and performed by Becky Parker
Originally directed by Zack
Music by John Geist
Then. Now. The Hereafter...Never underestimate a mother's love.
Travel through the bumpy mishaps and delights of a child’s view of the world, careen into a young adult’s view of her family falling apart and finally land in the world of the solidly grounded woman of the present, whose deep understanding of her mother’s love and her own love as a mother, embraces her very approach to life, encapsulated not unlike her beloved chrysalis and its emerging butterfly. Departing from our typical Canterbury Tales repertory, Joy with Wings draws medieval wisdom into contemporary experience through the medium of the actor. The resulting pilgrimage of self-understanding and acceptance takes the audience on a journey of laughter, music and poignant reflection.
